Should You Ever Lie On Your Resume?

They say mass media makes up ninety percent of the statistics. However, when I state that about forty percent of the American job seekers tend to post fibs on their resume, I am not declaring another lie! In the following sections, I will outline the perils of lying on resumes. There was a time when human resource managers were least bothered about the educational or technical accomplishments of the job seekers. All they required were someone to do the job. If they did not fit into the criteria, the company will provide ample training to enable them to perform well.

The recruiters of this generation happen to be a lot smarter than you could ever think. Post one lie in the resume; they will bar you from entering any other similar companies. Yes, the companies now work as consortiums to weed out such liars. When a prospective candidate lies, the original recruiter will feed the details pertaining to the same candidate into a database. Quite often, human resource managers would like to crosscheck the list of applicants with this database. Therefore, if they find you once, it will be best for you to start seeking for better jobs in another country.

Why do job seekers lie on their resume? When they are having a tough time procuring their desired job, they will have to lie in order to gain admittance into the company. They would simply console themselves that they are doing no harm, as they can master the position within a few weeks or so. However, they fail to understand that because of this act from their part, eligible candidates are losing opportunities. Any establishment will face a perilous time trying to handle an untrained and inefficient employee. Needless to state, truth always triumphs and the lie will be found out one day or the other.

While creating the resume, please be truthful and ensure to highlight only accurate information. Even if you are not suited for a post, try to certify that you are a quick learner and will try your level best to master the intricacies. You see, honesty always pays. The human resource manager will be impressed with your truthfulness. Who knows - if it is your lucky day, he or she might decide to hire you! How does that sound?

Exaggerating certain truthful aspects duly included in the resume cannot be considered as a lie. Yes, it is a bit of white lie; however, you are simply trying to emphasis your brilliance. Do not overdo it, though. If in doubt, the recruiter might verify the facts. Bear in mind that one lie will cause you to create another lie. Thus, you will have to dwell with that guilty feeling throughout your time in that company. The accomplishments achieved via lying are short termed. Any intelligent being will be already aware of the same. I have previously cited the ramifications of lying on the resume. Please do not do it. However, keep us posted with your interview experiences!
